Jaipur: A serious medical case in Jaipur has raised fresh concerns over maternal healthcare and the management of post-delivery complications. According to the report shared by Dainik Bhaskar, a woman developed severe kidney-related complications after delivering at Jaipuria Hospital in Jaipur. Her urine output reportedly stopped, following which she was referred to Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital for further treatment.
The case comes amid wider concern in Rajasthan over reports of kidney failure and deaths among women following childbirth. Recent reporting has highlighted multiple cases in government hospitals, including patients requiring dialysis and intensive care.
The Incident
The woman underwent delivery at Jaipuria Hospital in Jaipur. Following the delivery, her health reportedly deteriorated and her urine output eventually stopped — a potentially serious sign of acute kidney injury requiring urgent medical assessment and treatment.
After the condition worsened, the patient was referred to SMS Hospital, Jaipur, a major tertiary-care medical centre equipped to manage complex cases.
The circumstances surrounding the deterioration, including the timing of the complication, treatment provided at Jaipuria Hospital and the reasons behind the referral, are expected to be important in determining what caused the kidney failure.
The case also comes against the backdrop of a broader maternal-health concern in Rajasthan. In July, Aaj Tak reported that 19 women had died after delivery across different government hospitals in Rajasthan since May, with several others reportedly suffering kidney complications and undergoing dialysis.
Medical experts generally consider a sudden fall or complete stoppage of urine output after childbirth to be a medical emergency that requires prompt investigation. Possible causes can include severe blood loss, infection, low blood pressure, medication-related complications and other pregnancy- or delivery-related conditions.
