Gangapur City (Sawai Madhopur): The long-running agitation demanding release of water from Panchna Dam concluded on Wednesday evening after Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena intervened and assured farmers that the issue would be resolved within six days.
The protest had been ongoing for nearly 20 days in Khandeep, led by local representatives and supported by farmers from the command area. The movement demanded timely water release into irrigation canals to support agriculture in the region.
During the mahapanchayat, Minister Kirodi Lal Meena addressed the gathering and said that the issue was directly related to farmers’ welfare and not politics. He assured that he had already discussed the matter with the Chief Minister and would ensure formal orders for water release through the irrigation department.
He also announced the formation of an 11-member committee to coordinate talks between the government and the protest leaders. The minister highlighted that he had participated in protests in the past and understood the concerns of farmers, adding that he was continuously monitoring the situation.
Following the assurance, protest leaders agreed to end the agitation, bringing relief to local administration and residents.
