JAIPUR, INDIA — July 3, 2026
Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar was admitted to a leading cardiac hospital in Jaipur on Friday after arriving in the city for a scheduled heart-related medical evaluation and angioplasty. Doctors described the visit as part of his ongoing cardiac treatment and routine follow-up care.
Dhankhar landed in Jaipur early Friday morning and was taken directly from the airport to the hospital, where he underwent preliminary medical examinations before specialists prepared for the procedure.
The angioplasty is being supervised by renowned interventional cardiologist Dr. Sameer K. Sharma, whose team is monitoring the former vice president's condition throughout the treatment.
Medical sources indicated that the cardiac intervention was planned in advance as part of Dhankhar's long-term health management. Later in the day, he is also expected to undergo a routine ophthalmological examination with eye specialist Dr. Rahul Sharda.
Political leaders, including former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, visited the hospital to inquire about Dhankhar's health and wished him a speedy recovery.
According to the current schedule, Dhankhar is expected to return to New Delhi on Saturday following completion of his medical evaluations, subject to doctors' approval.
The former vice president has experienced multiple health-related issues in recent years, including previous hospitalizations for cardiac treatment. His health was also cited as the reason for his resignation from the office of Vice President before completing his term.
Hospital authorities continue to monitor his condition and are expected to issue regular medical updates.
