Nagaur: In a grassroots governance initiative, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma conducted an early morning walk through Tilanesh village in Nagaur district, engaging directly with residents and addressing their concerns on the spot following a Gram Vikas Chaupal held the previous evening.
The Chief Minister interacted with women engaged in weeding agricultural fields, where they explained their traditional practice of working collectively on each other's farms. Sharma praised the cooperative farming model, describing it as a symbol of rural unity, mutual trust, and community participation.
During the village visit, a resident raised the issue of wastewater accumulating outside her home due to the absence of a proper drainage outlet. After hearing the complaint, the Chief Minister instructed district officials to prepare an immediate solution and assured the family that the long-pending civic problem would be resolved at the earliest.
In another emotional interaction, an elderly villager shared that he had lost both his wife and son and now lives alone. The Chief Minister directed officials to ensure that the senior citizen receives all eligible government assistance and social welfare benefits. The conversation became emotional when the elderly man remarked, "We are your pigeons," to which Sharma responded with a smile, "I have come to seek your blessings," drawing warm applause from villagers.
As part of his visit, the Chief Minister also paid tribute to Grenadier Modaram Khatkad, who laid down his life during the 1965 India-Pakistan War. Sharma visited the martyr's residence, offered floral respects, and shared a meal with the family, calling their sacrifice an enduring inspiration for the nation.
Earlier, Sharma joined Prime Minister Narendra Modi's virtual programme from Gotan Railway Station, where eight redeveloped Amrit railway stations in Rajasthan were inaugurated. Addressing the gathering, he said the railway sector has undergone historic transformation since 2014 and described the new stations as an important step toward the state's development and improved connectivity.
The Nagaur visit reflected the Rajasthan government's emphasis on direct public engagement, field inspections, and immediate administrative response to local grievances.
