The Rajasthan Police has reported a 4.65% decline in serious criminal cases during the first half of 2026 compared with the same period last year, according to Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Kumar Sharma. The report was presented during a press conference at the Rajasthan Police Academy in Jaipur.
Police officials said the findings reflect improvements in public safety, investigative efficiency, and targeted enforcement operations while emphasizing the need to strengthen responses to cyber-enabled crime.

Major Crime Declines
Serious crimes under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) decreased from 99,272 to 94,652 cases.
Murder cases fell by 4.41%.
Robbery cases declined by 19.93%.
Reported cases under the POCSO Act and child sexual assault also showed reductions.
Faster Investigations
Police reported significant improvements in investigation timelines:
Average POCSO investigation period reduced from 78.2 days to 51.2 days.
Average rape investigation period dropped from 81 days to 52 days.
Better Property Recovery
Recovery rates for stolen property improved substantially:
Robbery recovery increased to 79.09%.
Burglary recovery rose dramatically from 9.58% to 58.24%.
Cybercrime Remains the Biggest Concern
Despite overall improvements:
More than 84,900 cybercrime complaints were recorded by June 30, 2026.
Police have frozen approximately 26.47% of fraudulent transactions through cyber response initiatives.
Officials warned that online scams and so-called "digital arrest" frauds continue to evolve rapidly.
Anti-Drug Operations
Authorities reported:
Nearly 30% more NDPS cases than the previous year.
224 drug trafficking hotspots identified across 20 districts.
Illegal assets worth ₹55.01 crore in 2025 and ₹7.36 crore in 2026 demolished or seized from suspected drug traffickers.
Counterterrorism and Organized Crime
The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS):
Registered three UAPA cases.
Conducted deradicalization counseling for 15 individuals identified through online monitoring.
Officials also announced expanded authority for the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) to pursue organized crime, including international cooperation where required.
Future Strategy
According to DGP Sharma, Rajasthan Police plans to:
Expand technology-driven policing.
Intensify action against cybercrime.
Seize assets linked to organized criminal networks under new legal provisions.
Increase enforcement against extortion gangs and transnational criminal organizations.
