Jaipur : Following stern warnings and a strict directive from the High Court, the state government on Tuesday presented official appointment orders for two new members to the Rajasthan Civil Services Appellate Tribunal (RAT): retired IAS officer Atar Singh Nehra and retired RAS officer Virendra Singh Bakawat.
During court proceedings, government counsel formally submitted the notification detailing the filling of member vacancies. State representatives informed the division bench that the formal process to appoint the RAT Chairman is also in its final phase and an official announcement will be made shortly.
The High Court's intervention came after taking a strong stance against administrative delays that had brought tribunal operations to a complete standstill. The prolonged vacancy of panel members and a Chairman resulted in over 1,500 pending cases involving government employees—ranging from transfer disputes and promotions to suspensions and retirement benefits.
With the induction of Atar Singh Nehra and Virendra Singh Bakawat, tribunal benches can now resume hearings on pending employee grievances. The court took the government’s compliance submission on record and directed that the appointment of the RAT Chairman be finalized without further delay.
