Jaipur has witnessed another sharp increase in fuel prices, with petrol becoming ₹2.82 per litre costlier and diesel rising by ₹2.73 per litre. Following the revision, petrol is now selling at approximately ₹112.66 per litre, while diesel has reached ₹97.78 per litre in the Rajasthan capital.
According to fuel dealers, this marks the fourth price increase in the current month, making transportation and logistics significantly more expensive. Auto-rickshaw drivers, delivery workers, and daily commuters expressed frustration over the repeated hikes.
Opposition leaders have urged the Rajasthan government to consider reducing VAT on petroleum products to provide relief to consumers. Industry groups have also warned that continued increases could contribute to higher prices for essential goods transported across the state.
Public Reaction
Many residents visiting petrol pumps described the increase as a major burden on family finances.
“Every week the fuel bill seems to rise. It affects everything from commuting to grocery prices,” said a commuter waiting at a Jaipur fuel station.
Transport operators fear the hike may force them to revise fares, potentially affecting thousands of passengers who rely on public and shared transport services.
Economic Impact
Economists note that rising fuel costs often have a ripple effect across the economy, increasing transportation expenses and contributing to broader inflationary pressures. Businesses dependent on road transport are expected to feel the impact first.
Editor's Note
Fuel prices remain one of the most closely watched economic indicators in Rajasthan, with consumers and businesses alike monitoring future revisions that could further affect daily expenses.
