WASHINGTON, June 3, 2026 — The Middle East moved closer to a wider regional conflict on Wednesday after Iran launched missile and drone attacks targeting Kuwait and Bahrain, while the United States conducted fresh military strikes against Iranian-linked targets in the Persian Gulf.
According to regional authorities, Bahrain's air defense systems successfully intercepted three incoming missiles and multiple drones. Bahraini military officials condemned the attacks, describing them as a threat to civilian infrastructure and regional stability.
Meanwhile, Kuwait reported significant damage to Terminal 1 at Kuwait International Airport following overnight missile strikes. Officials said several people were injured and all commercial flight operations were suspended as emergency crews assessed the damage.
The attacks came hours after U.S. forces reportedly struck targets on Iran's Qeshm Island and disabled an oil tanker believed to be heading toward an Iranian port. American officials described the actions as defensive measures aimed at preventing further escalation.
