JAIPUR — Leaders from India's paper and pulp industry gathered in Jaipur for the Indian Pulp and Paper Technical Association (IPPTA) Zonal Seminar to discuss the sector's future amid rapid technological change. The event focused on policy, sustainability and technological convergence, with experts emphasizing innovation, environmental responsibility and digital transformation.
Addressing the seminar, Patrika Group Editor-in-Chief Gulab Kothari said newspapers remain the most trusted medium of information. He argued that credibility is the industry's greatest strength and predicted that newspapers will continue to play an important role in society over the next five decades because of their deep connection with education, culture and knowledge.
Kothari also highlighted the challenges posed by artificial intelligence and changing educational systems, saying industries—including paper manufacturing—must evolve while preserving human values. He stressed that paper remains an essential foundation for education despite the rapid expansion of digital technology.
IPPTA President S.V.R. Krishnan discussed the importance of circular economy practices, reducing carbon emissions, efficient resource utilization and the adoption of smart manufacturing technologies. Technical sessions explored artificial intelligence, machine learning, water conservation, energy efficiency and sustainable production methods.
The seminar also featured the launch of the latest IPPTA Journal, product exhibitions and networking sessions connecting industry leaders, researchers and policymakers.
