Mumbai: Financial services major Aditya Birla Capital delivered a strong first-quarter performance for FY2026-27, reporting a 40% year-on-year jump in consolidated net profit to ₹1,174 crore, compared with ₹839 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
The company also recorded 27.9% growth in total revenue, which rose to ₹12,187 crore from ₹9,531 crore a year earlier. The earnings reflected broad-based momentum across its lending, housing finance, insurance, and asset management businesses.
Housing finance emerged as the company's standout performer during the quarter. Loan disbursements climbed 39% to ₹7,515 crore, while assets under management (AUM) expanded 50% to ₹51,833 crore. Profit before tax from the housing finance business surged 95% to ₹300 crore, supported by improved operational efficiency and healthy loan demand. Asset quality also strengthened, with the gross Stage-3 asset ratio declining to 0.41%.
The lending business continued its steady expansion, with the combined NBFC and housing finance loan portfolio increasing 32% year-on-year and 6% sequentially to ₹2.19 lakh crore, reflecting sustained demand from both retail and business borrowers.
Insurance and asset management operations also reported healthy growth. Combined AUM across asset management, life insurance, and health insurance businesses rose 36% to ₹7.52 lakh crore. Individual first-year premiums in the life insurance segment increased 20% to ₹952 crore, while the company's standalone health insurance market share improved to 16.2%.
The asset management business posted an average quarterly AUM of ₹4.28 lakh crore, representing 6% annual growth, while profit after tax increased 12% to ₹309 crore.
In a leadership move, the company's board approved the appointment of Subhash Subramanyam as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and a member of the senior management team. His appointment will take effect from August 3, 2026, following recommendations from the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.
Investor sentiment remained positive after the earnings announcement, with Aditya Birla Capital shares gaining nearly 4% during intraday trading on the NSE. Over the past year, the stock has delivered a return of approximately 57.8%, significantly outperforming the benchmark index.
