Jaipur: The Rajasthan government's statewide transfer drive has snowballed into a major political controversy, with complaints from ruling party workers, legislators and ministers exposing alleged tensions within the administrative machinery.
Following widespread dissatisfaction over transfer orders, the BJP organization reportedly sought explanations from Revenue Minister Hemant Meena and Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar after party workers alleged that many recommended names were excluded from the final lists. Simultaneously, the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) has reportedly sought department-wise details of recommendations made by MLAs and MPs to review the transfer process.
Political and bureaucratic circles have also been abuzz with unverified reports of disagreements within the government over transfer decisions.
According to these reports, Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar and Additional Chief Secretary Arti Dogra were allegedly at odds over transfer proposals in the Energy Department, with claims that several ministerial recommendations were not reflected in the final transfer orders. Neither the minister nor the officer has publicly confirmed these allegations.
Similarly, unverified reports have suggested friction between Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari's Office on Special Duty (OSD) and Additional Chief Secretary Praveen Gupta in the Public Works Department over transfer-related recommendations. According to these reports, a disagreement escalated during discussions on postings and was subsequently brought to the attention of the Chief Minister's Office. However, these claims remain unverified, and no official statement has been issued by the concerned officials.
The transfer exercise has also attracted scrutiny over reported administrative anomalies. Political sources have alleged that some employees received transfer orders to multiple locations, while others claimed that the names of retired or deceased employees appeared in official lists. Another reported incident from Bharatpur suggested that a transfer recommendation made by BJP MLA Shailesh Singh was mistakenly recorded with the legislator's own name instead of the concerned employee. These reported cases have not been independently verified.
The controversy has intensified calls for greater transparency, stronger digital verification and improved administrative oversight in Rajasthan's transfer system. With internal reviews underway and political pressure mounting, the transfer episode has emerged as a significant governance challenge for the Bhajan Lal Sharma government.
