Banswara: Stepping up his criticism of the Bhajan Lal Sharma-led Rajasthan government, Sachin Pilot alleged that the state administration was deliberately postponing panchayat and urban local body elections despite repeated observations by the High Court.
He claimed the BJP was using the slogan of "One Nation, One Election" as a justification to delay democratic processes, arguing that the government feared facing voters because of growing public dissatisfaction.
Pilot asserted that whenever elections are eventually held, the Congress would secure a decisive mandate in both rural and urban Rajasthan.
Criticism of governance
The Congress leader alleged that the state government had failed to address key public concerns during its tenure. He said farmers, women, employees and ordinary citizens were facing hardships, while vacancies in government departments remained unfilled and law and order had deteriorated.
According to Pilot, even BJP workers were dissatisfied with the government's functioning, claiming that public services and administrative delivery had slowed significantly.
Attack on the Centre
Pilot also criticized the Union government, alleging that constitutional institutions had been weakened over the past decade and accusing the Centre of misusing agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Election Commission for political purposes.
He further referred to recent controversies surrounding the NEET paper leak and the Ram Temple donation issue, calling for a transparent investigation and accountability.
CM question brushed aside
When asked whether he saw himself as Rajasthan's next Chief Minister, Pilot declined to engage with the speculation.
Instead, he said the Congress was focused on winning upcoming Assembly elections across various states and strengthening democratic institutions rather than discussing leadership positions.
He also accused the BJP of attempting to alter political mandates by engineering defections in opposition parties, alleging that democratic values were being undermined.
The BJP has consistently rejected similar allegations, maintaining that its governments remain committed to development, governance reforms and constitutional processes.
