suspended internet services in parts of Karauli and Sawai Madhopur after tensions escalated over the release of water from Panchna Dam. Officials say the restrictions were imposed to curb the spread of inflammatory social media posts and maintain public order. Police have also registered cases against several individuals accused of circulating content that could incite unrest.
The dispute, driven by concerns over canal water availability, led to farmer protests and road blockades in several areas. Following late-night talks, state ministers assured farmers that technical issues affecting water flow would be resolved within 10 days, prompting protesters to lift the blockade and allowing traffic to resume on major routes.
A high-level review meeting involving senior ministers, administrative officials, police officers, and farmer representatives concluded that repairs to the dam's gates and related infrastructure would be completed within a week. Fresh testing of the gates is scheduled for July 17–18 in the presence of farmer representatives to ensure adequate water reaches the command area canals.
Officials have appealed for peace and urged residents not to believe or share unverified information on social media while the administration continues efforts to resolve the dispute.
