Jaipur:In a stern message aimed at strengthening public safety, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma chaired a high-level law-and-order review meeting on Monday, directing police officers to adopt a zero-tolerance approach toward crime across the state.
The Chief Minister declared that Range Inspectors General (IGs) and District Superintendents of Police (SPs) would now bear direct responsibility for maintaining law and order. According to officials present at the meeting, administrative action could follow if major crimes occur because of negligence or inadequate policing.

Government officials stated that while organized crime and firing incidents have declined compared with 2023, the administration believes further improvement is necessary to ensure greater public confidence in policing.
10-Point Strategy Against Crime
The government announced a comprehensive enforcement strategy that includes:
Direct accountability of IGs and SPs for law and order.
Statewide operations against illegal firearms and their supply networks.
Targeting the financial and social networks supporting organized crime.
Seizure and demolition of illegally acquired assets belonging to narcotics traffickers.
Expansion of cyber patrol units to combat online fraud and digital scams.
Faster investigation and prosecution of crimes against women and children.
Time-bound disposal of pending cases involving gangsters and habitual offenders.
Revival of Community Liaison Group (CLG) meetings to strengthen public-police cooperation.
Tough action against land encroachment and land mafias.
Improved citizen feedback systems to increase transparency in police stations.
District Officers Questioned
The Chief Minister reportedly questioned police leadership from Alwar, Sri Ganganagar, and Bharatpur over recent incidents involving robbery, gang violence, firing, and organized criminal activity.
Officials were asked why intelligence inputs had failed to prevent several incidents, and they were warned that officers displaying negligence could face removal from field postings.
Focus on Social Media and Youth
Among the more notable directives was an instruction to monitor the online glorification of criminals.
Police have been asked to identify individuals who publicly display weapons on social media or actively promote notorious gangsters online. Authorities were also instructed to engage with parents and provide counselling to vulnerable youth in an effort to discourage recruitment into criminal networks.
The government also directed police to take prompt action against social media accounts accused of spreading fear or glorifying organized crime.
Land Encroachment Under Scrutiny
The meeting also reviewed alleged encroachments on public grazing land in Gogunda, Udaipur district. The Chief Minister ordered disciplinary proceedings against officials found negligent and instructed authorities to reclaim government land from illegal occupation.
The government reiterated that action against land mafias would remain a priority.
Community Policing Emphasized
Concluding the review, the Chief Minister emphasized that sustainable law enforcement depends not only on strict policing but also on public confidence. He directed district administrations to reactivate Community Liaison Group meetings across Rajasthan to improve communication between citizens and law enforcement agencies.
Senior officials, including the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, senior Home Department officials, and police officers from across the state, participated in the meeting either in person or through video conference.
