Udaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Sunday launched a major development package worth ₹421 crore for Udaipur district, describing it as part of the state's long-term infrastructure and economic growth roadmap.
Speaking at Sukhadia Rangmanch Auditorium, Sharma inaugurated 21 completed development projects while laying foundation stones for 435 new projects covering urban infrastructure, public utilities, and civic development.
The Chief Minister asserted that Rajasthan's electricity sector has undergone significant transformation.
"Earlier, Rajasthan used to purchase electricity. Today, the state is producing enough power to supply electricity to other states," Sharma said while highlighting investments in power generation projects.
He stated that the state government is implementing development through a structured roadmap, emphasizing large-scale investments in water security. According to Sharma, Rajasthan currently has one of India's largest portfolios of water infrastructure projects, including the recently launched ₹35,000 crore Yamuna Water Project and ongoing work on the Ram Jal Setu Link Project.
On employment, the Chief Minister reiterated the government's target of providing over 400,000 government appointments, claiming that 178,000 appointment letters have already been issued. He also criticized the previous state administration over examination paper leaks, stating that no recruitment examination under the current government has experienced such incidents.
The visit also focused on social initiatives. Through video conferencing, Sharma launched the national "Drug-Free Youth for Developed India" campaign, urging young people to reject substance abuse and actively participate in building a healthier society. The campaign includes awareness, education, counseling, rehabilitation, and community participation.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister flagged off the Nari Shakti Rally in Udaipur as part of the Women's Safety Pledge initiative. The rally featured women police personnel, mounted police units, athletes, NSS volunteers, guides, and women empowerment tableaux, promoting awareness on women's safety, dignity, and empowerment.
The second day of Sharma's Udaipur visit began with a walk through Bida village, where he interacted with villagers, sought public feedback, and visited the Awari Mata Temple, offering prayers for the prosperity and well-being of Rajasthan.
Senior ministers, legislators, officials, and public representatives attended various events during the visit.
